Getting started

How do I get a receipt into Slip?

There are three ways. Photograph the paper receipt in the app, forward the email receipt to your private Slip address, or send a PDF to Slip from any share sheet. Whichever way it arrives, Slip reads it, files it, and shows you the entry so you can correct anything that came out wrong.

Do I need to connect a bank account?

No. Slip never connects to a bank, never moves money, and never holds money. This is a real limit: Slip can only see the receipts and statements you give it, so a card payment you never photograph or forward will not appear.

What should I do with the paper receipt afterwards?

Throw it away if you want to. Slip keeps the photo and the text it read from it, and you can open the original image from any entry to check a line against what was printed. Photos are kept at full resolution, so a warranty claim two years later still has the printed date on it.

Can I use Slip on more than one device?

Yes. Slip runs on iOS and Android, and there is a web app for searching and exporting. A receipt filed on a phone appears in the web app within a few seconds, and the phone apps keep working with no signal — a receipt photographed on a train files itself once the signal comes back.

Reading receipts

Which languages can Slip read?

English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch. Receipts in other languages will still be stored with their image and date, but the line items and merchant name may need to be filled in by hand. Handwritten totals fail more often than printed ones.

What happens if Slip reads an amount wrong?

Tap the amount and correct it. The original photo is kept next to the entry, so you can always check what was actually printed. If the same merchant is misread twice, Slip remembers your correction and applies it to that merchant from then on.

Are receipts read on my phone or on your servers?

Reading runs on your phone. Slip pulls the text out of the photo on the device, and that text is what gets filed. The image itself is stored in your account so the web app can show it, encrypted on the way there and at rest. A faded or badly creased receipt can be sent for a second read on our servers, but only when you tap to allow it, one receipt at a time, and that copy is deleted from the server within an hour.

Can one receipt belong to more than one category?

Yes. Open the receipt and assign categories line by line, so a supermarket trip can hold groceries and household in the same entry. The month view then counts each line under its own category, and the receipt total stays intact.

Plans and billing

What does Slip cost?

The free plan files 30 receipts a month and keeps them for as long as you have an account. Slip Plus is EUR 3.50 a month or EUR 34.00 a year, and it lifts the monthly limit, adds statement reading, and adds export from the web app. There is no trial to cancel, because the free plan does not expire.

What happens to my receipts if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. Your account returns to the free plan, everything you filed stays searchable and readable, and you keep filing up to the monthly limit again. Export stays available for 12 months after a Plus subscription ends, so your history can leave with you long after you stop paying.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Write to hello@slip.app within 14 days of an annual charge and we refund it in full. We do not ask why. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, the refund is handled by the store, and we will send you the exact steps.

Privacy and data

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell, rent or share your receipts, and we do not sell aggregate spending figures to retailers, brokers or market research firms. Slip Labs is paid by the people who subscribe, and that is the whole business.

How long do you keep my receipts?

For as long as you keep them. Receipts older than 7 years are deleted automatically, and you can switch that off in Settings if you need to hold them longer. A receipt you delete yourself is removed from our servers within 30 days, image included.

How do I export everything, or delete my account?

The web app exports your full history as CSV or JSON, with the original images in a ZIP alongside it. Deleting your account is in Settings; we send a confirmation email first, and the account and its receipts are gone within 30 days. If you find a security problem, write to security@slip.app and a person answers, usually within two working days.
